Description
I was just taking some quick shots of the museum. On the left is the Skylab mockup and on the right is the aerobraking model. [museum.jpg, JPEG, 25k] View
ISS Node 2 in assembly at MSFC. [node2.jpg, JPEG, 21k] View
The vista from Monte Sano, centered. [parkctr.jpg, JPEG, 19k] View
The vista at Monte Sano from the left. [parklft.jpg, JPEG, 38k] View
The vista at Monte Sano from the right. What can I say? I liked the view. [parkrt.jpg, JPEG, 24k] View
The little shacky deal at the entrance to Monte Sano, amidst the great battle of the water guns. Wimpy travis got us all with his supersoaker then got in his car and drove off. We'll have to get him back next year... RIGHT!? [prkhouse.jpg, JPEG, 52k] View
The Redstone test facility at MSFC. [redstone.jpg, JPEG, 20k] View
Rena and her video camera in front of the MAT. When are we getting copies, Rena? :) [renacamera.jpg, JPEG, 38k] View
The model rocket launch! I an identify Travis there, but I can't tell who anyone else is. Shepard was there with us too (losers) so we probably don't know most of these people anyway. [rktlnch.jpg, JPEG, 21k] View
Waiting to launch the model rockets: Travis, Lindsay, Kristie, and Tami. [rktwait.jpg, JPEG, 29k] View
More waiting! Can't tell, can't tell, Kelly, Jessica, that's Joel helping Meryl (remember Joel, the guy in charge who forgot to dye his hair?) and I think Katie but I'm not sure. [rktwait2.jpg, JPEG, 27k] View
Rocket Park!!!! Isn't this a cool pic? I don't know what that first one is, but then we got us an Army Redstone, a Jupiter, Mercury Redstone, Jupiter C, Saturn I-B, and on the floor we got a Mercury Atlas. Oh, yeah, and the Saturn V in the background. This is from the third floor of the visitor's center, by the UAT. [rocketpark.jpg, JPEG, 49k] View
Here's Kristin and Me when we were waiting to get on the 1/6th chair. This was a self-portrait, so please forgive the quality. [selfpic.jpg, JPEG, 27k] View
The Space Shuttle testing facility at MSFC. [shtltst.jpg, JPEG, 16k] View
Here's another pic I'm proud of: walking from Rocket Park into Shuttle Park, the ET and supports for Pathfinder are visible through the trees. Oh yeah, and Tami managed to get in there too. [shuttle1.jpg, JPEG, 39k] View
Same situation, just a bit closer. [shuttle2.jpg, JPEG, 32k] View
Now, Pathfinder from a different angle, this time coming out of Le Café Nasté into Shuttle Park. The tip of the ET got cut off, but you get the idea. Visit the 99 site (see links) for a really nice shot. That's the AstroTrek building in the way background. [shuttle3.jpg, JPEG, 25k] View
The Skylab mockup in the Museum. Also, there's an actual Apollo EMU in the foreground. [skylab.jpg, JPEG, 28k] View
And the other mockup of Skylab, this one next to the Saturn V in Rocket Park. Oddly appropriate, since it's made from the 3rd stage of a Saturn V. That's Lindsay in the foreground and a Gemini Titan II in the background. [skylab2.jpg, JPEG, 24k] View
Here we are in the station waiting for Charlie Mission training to begin. Kristie, Jessica, Dan, Rena, and Lindsay. [station1.jpg, JPEG, 41k] View
More Charlie training on the station! Same crowd. That's Brian Akins on the right, who was my counselor two years ago on the Gagarin team. Now he's Joel's lackey. And the other dude, I can't remember his name, but he's the dude in charge of the station. [station2.jpg, JPEG, 38k] View
The Saturn I-B mockup in Rocket Park. Used on early Apollo missions. That little guy is a Jupiter C, and that flag in the foreground is part of the LM mockup. [strnib.jpg, JPEG, 33k] View
The Saturn V test facility at MSFC. [strntst1.jpg, JPEG, 29k] View
These are the tanks that cooled the Saturn V test facility at MSFC. They hold a total of 7 million gallons of water and they're pumped by several diesel engines. Even with them all running at full steam, it still takes a half an hour to empty the tanks. [strntst2.jpg, JPEG, 17k] View
The Saturn V rocket in Rocket Park. This is the real thing, folks. Put some fuel in this, add connector rings, and stand it up, and this will fly. Used to launch the later Apollo Missions (8-17) and Skylab. That's a Titan II on the right. [strnv1.jpg, JPEG, 42k] View
Looking head-on at the Saturn V. Lindsay and I were admiring the engine of the Titan II and I turned around and saw this. It scared the ever loving crap out of me. Ask Lindsay, I jumped back. Then I realized it was a really cool picture, so I took it. :) [strnv2.jpg, JPEG, 25k] View
